Poetry: First kiss

by Charles Gillis

Created on: July 12, 2008

I dreamt of our first kiss
And the world that it transformed.
Urban towers of glass and steel
Melted into warm valleys.
The spinning stars stopped in motion
Our eyes met, time ceased
And quiet forces beyond us
Compelled our movement
Closer together until the gentle touch of our lips
Started the machinery of the cosmos anew.
And though it was but a dream
It occupies a place in my mind still
At this moment for all time forward
Driving new dreams of the kiss that awaits
In days yet to come.
