At the very beginning of the fall of man when Satan deceived Eve, tricking her to believe she could be God, Adam who sees Eve being tricked by Satan (Genesis 3:6) chose to disobey God by listening to Eve. At the beginning it was shown that man is not a god without the power of God. Without God's grace man would fall into rebellious damnation. The created not fully understanding that without the Creator's grace and mercy the created is eternally dead. At the beginning God warned Adam and Eve they would die if they disobeyed Him.
Even today man has tried to put God's nature on man's level. I was surprised to see a particular Bible commentary disregarding the omnipotence and sovereignty of God's nature. When God gives an oath, God is omnipotent (Revelations 19:6, Colossians 1:15-18). He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18). The sovereignty of God as in Psalm 33:18-19 (New King James Version) "Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine." Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Well were does wisdom come from? James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." The sovereignty of God comes into focus for those who ask for wisdom.
God's mercy and grace are gifts to those whom He has made known the ministry of His will according to His good pleasure He purposed in Himself (Ephesians 1:9). God is the one who makes this happen. Romans 3:11 "There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God." (Matthew 11:27, John 6:44). Romans 9:16 "So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy." (Colossians 1:9-18).
It is God Himself who has lead you to true repentance. Romans 2:4 "Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"
The human race is in rebellion toward God and without His grace and mercy. We stay in the state of eternal damnation, rebellious toward Almighty God.
It is God's faith in Himself to completely sanctify those whom He has chosen to show mercy and grace. Hebrews 6:13 "For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself." The sovereignty of God is all powerful in saving those whom He has chosen (Jude 1:24-25).
It is so important
