As an ordinary people if one day you wake up and find a pod of media surrounding your house what will you feel? Honored or just frightened? Well, i think, most people will feel frightened because of the invisible stress that media gives us. To some extend, you'll feel like your privacy is deprived of by the media.
So here first let's take a look at what privacy is? In fact, it's a shared knowledge that privacy is the ability of an individual or group to seclude themselves or information about themselves and thereby reveal themselves selectively. It's a basic right of every single individual. In almost every country the right of privacy is protected by the law.
And as a celebrity is a widely-recognized or famous person who commands a high degree of public and media attention. It's really hard for them to reserve all of their privacy, because some people live on spying them and making headlines!
So here we have two things that have controversy. Celebrity, a widely-recognized or famous person who commands a high degree of public and media attention. Privacy, just out of the spotlight.
Here we have to question this , do celebrities deserve some level of privacy?
My answer is definitely yes. I have mainly 3 reasons.
1. Celerity, also enjoys the right that they have as man. As we all know there are two kinds of rights-natural right and legal right. So viewing the topic today from the aspect of natural right, celerities , as equal to ordinary people definitely deserve the right that other enjoy, which is privacy. And viewing this from the legal right's angle, it's more unshakable that as prtoected by the law, media can not challenge that.
2. Celebrities, as most of whom are in the center of spotlights, actually draw the public attention because of the specific job that they engage themselves in. It's good for media to cover that part but when it comes to privacy it's not that good for media to cover that part.
3. Think about this, what magazine will you buy one that only has ordinary stories or one that has something related to the unknown part of a celebrity? People will choose the latter one. It's really strange when you enjoy your privacy while your curiosity actually hurt other people's privacy. Our boundless curiosity is the very source of the mass media spying on the celebrities.
Do you like sleep in the spotlights? Definitely not!
But as the entertainment industry getting more and more competitive, there are more and more actors and actresses who are willing to let media to "find " some headlines so that they will be the very topic of people's conversation.
But as the topic today is discussing whether celebrities deserve some level of privacy, that our answer is yes. But when it comes reality, you'll always find media violate celebrities' privacy so that people engaged in the that field can make a living.
It's a complicated problem, morally speaking and legally speaking. We always had sad stories that celebrities' rights severely interfered by the mass media. Princess Dianna is actually the victim of our mass media's violating celebrities' right of privacy.
To sum up, i would like to say once we stop buying those magazines and papers that cover celerities' privacy, then it's the very time that we pout and end to this complicated problem.
