Into the Shadows
I flee again to that safe place
to the distance I fly where the world is still
The still, still light of sun,
warm, slow
it beckons
Where are the doors?
opened on the Sabbath
dark, blind
uninhibited
they receive
My world is unfastened
the shutters in the storm
the clatter and the frenzy
it disturbs,
My world is rain
Flooded
Drowning
Madness
My world is calm
the surface of abandoned lake
cool
it soothes
My world is dark
No sun, no calm
the routine,
blinding
damaging
pale and drained
The light shines
it blinds
too painful,
Into the shadows again.

MY PROMISE
Last night I dreamed that I was dead

You know that hangdog feeling
When life's kicked you in the crutch,
When the world seems ranged against you
And to breathe
by CanCan
There you are in the mirror again
Looking for hope and even a friend
The blemishes you find that no one else sees
You cry in
A shadow flees through the night
Swift and stealthy
A demon
with glowing red eyes
She stops
in front of a bistro
Moves in,
closing
