Before there was the Internet many employers have depended on The New York State Department of Labor to provide them with candidates for employment. Most offices are located within reach where you can use public transportion. Their business hour are 8:am-5:pm Monday through Friday except when there is a Holiday. Prepare to visit this office as though you were going on an interview. If you do not have a resume, the Department has workshops that will teach you how to write a resume. You can also save time by using an onsite computer to type print and fax your resume to employers. The State Department of Labor has contact with employers all over the State of New York. You will be interviewed by a Counselor who will give you recommendations and base on your skills will be helpful in submitting your resumes to some of their clients. They also teaches basis interview techniques to candidates.

The New York State Department of Labor has first knowledge of companies that are expanding and are looking for employees, also they are job fairs that are set up by the Department of Labor at convenient locations near public transportations. Several times a years the Department of Labor holds job fair where employers come into the site and interviews hundreds of candidates at once. The New York State Department also has thousands of jobs in their database as well as job posting on the bulleting board at their locations that will be of interest for many job seekers.

When visiting the Department of Labor there are daily workshops where counselors may be able to work with you on an individual basis and evaluate your skills for several positions.
