The Word War
Not everyone is aware of it but there is a serious intellectual war going on between Creationists and Scientists. The exchange is a lot more hateful than one would expect. The primary intellectual participants maintain a certain degree of decorum but the fringe area participants, the would be, but not true intellectuals that join the fray make most of the noise and about all of the nasty commentary. For instance, the Bible thumper has no tolerance for any viewpoint that wants to argue in favor of evolution as a valid theory. The atheists are most pleased when calling the creationists idiots, brain dead or any other demeaning thing that they can imagine. To me these fringe area participants do nothing to advance or further the issues that are involved between science and creationism. As an outside observer with no dogma of my own to sell I think I may qualify to spend a few words on the issues. Is there really any reason for all the heat in this topic, I think not? Neither science nor religion has all the answers to the fundamental questions.
Where are we from, why are we here, and where do we end up?
Science starts with the alleged Big Bang as the origin of the Universe. Not all scientists accept that theory but it is the mainstream majority view. This theory fails to tell us what was there before the Big Bang so it does not tell the whole story. After the universe created itself, and commenced to place Galaxies all over the place these Galaxies contained Stars that had friends that we now call Solar Systems. These Solar Systems, at times, may contain planets. These planets, at times, may be able to support life. Earth, our home, is such a planet and our presence here proves the point. Life began in the oceans of Earth as tiny microscopic things and eventually, on their own, they self created more complex living things that they continually improved to where they were able to slither their way on to the dry land. All of this self-creation continued over millions of years. Once the things were on dry land they developed further as described by the theory of evolution. The various complexities of living creators not withstanding, these creatures managed to continue to modify themselves in more and more complex forms of life from the most brainless starfish to elephants and eagles and eventually humans, as we know them to exist today. People like us that are prone to debate on all topics. I am not trying to be funny when I make reference to "self creation"
