Achieve success with unique leadership skills

Unique leadership skills imply a person with exceptional skills who stands out as he does things in a different way to the norm. What are some of these leadership skills that make someone unique and an example to those who work under him?

Accessibility: We have all had leaders in our lives, the managers and the bosses who come into the office late, say a quick hello,enter their very large office and then shut the door on the mere mortals who are only employees of the firm. There is a hush around the office and everyone knows the boss is in his office. A good leader should get to know the people who help run the business for him. Get to know the names of your staff members, what they do and a bit about their backgrounds and their role in the organisation that he is leading. Remember that they are all important as they are contributing to the total success of the company in their own individual way.

Meetings & Problem Solving: Regular meetings with staff members to stay informed and make necessary changes are a must. Any conflicts with employees should be resolved as soon as any tension is noticed in the office. Keeping the confidence of the employees and not revealing their problems to any one else in the company will in turn make the employees trust their employer as trust breeds trust. Good communication skills are a must in any employer/employee relationship. It is keeping a balance between being assertive and firm when things need to be done and listening when your employees have a problem.

Motivation: Being the leader brings with it responsibility of motivating a team of people who will look towards the manager to lead them. Keeping abreast of market changes and trends and listening to opinions and ideas of the staff should never be underestimated. Encouraging the staff and praising their efforts will motivate them to work even harder as it is a natural human instinct to do even better when you are being appreciated. The more motivated you are to lead your team the more motivated they will be to be led by you.

Employees & Delegation: Choosing the right employees will be a step that can lead a company into success. They should be good at their jobs, have the right skills and represent the company that they work for in a positive way. Delegating tasks to the right people will get you the results that you are looking for. Learning how to read people's characters and giving them positions that bring out the best in them is what every good leader should aim to do.

Vision Statement: Every company should have a vision statement to give a direction to the growth of the company. Have goals on how this growth is going to be achieved and have regular checks to see how much is being done to achieve this.

Knowledge: The knowledge of a good leader can be instrumental in the success of a company. It is basically what you know that has made you a leader and how you put together the rest of your team to work with you rather than against you will help you achieve the success you want.

Making Decisions: Managers have to take risks sometimes and make decisions that might not be the best at that point in time. The risk element has to be weighed against the benefit and the strength of character and decision making qualities of a good manager will stand out.

Bonuses & Perks: Pass on a percentage of any profits that the company is making to the employees who have been a part of this effort. Set up a bonus scheme if the company can afford it or offer perks and benefits now and again to show your appreciation as a manager. These benefits will make your employees want to stay in your company for as long as they can.
