Dear Mr. Senator,
I look at everything that is happening
In the world going wrong today
I wonder why it must be that when our babies die
the murders only get 10 to 20
I try hard not to cry
When the ball hits home
The politicians only scream across isles
Nothing is done, all order is gone
What are we to do in the world of today,
When our children come of age?
Violence runs our streets wild,
Drugs and guns are the continuing rage.
We want to hide,
Deny that our streets are littered with innocent blood.
We try to fight, wanting to stand up for what is right,
But it's over, it's useless, before we've even begun.
Bureaucracy, confidentiality is all a tangled mess
What is left for those who want to be free?
No fear, no violence, truth, and honesty
Are these dreams that our eyes will ever truly see?
Recession, depression,
Prices no one can afford
It isn't just a mental condition
It is grounds for an all out war.
Please, Mr. Senator,
Listen to the people's plea
Remember when we all vote
"This land was made for you AND me."
