Fear
"I'm not afraid" I say out loud
But that is hardly true
I'm very afraid
Fear is no stranger to me
He comes in many forms
My drunk father
He hurts me and my sisters
My mother lies in a grave
So my father turns toward my sisters
Many nights I fight with him
For them I gladly suffer.
Another form,
The school bully,
He's bigger than me
So much stronger too
He uses that to fight me
He knows that my father hurts me
He hits me like my father.
But the worst form is me.
I'm afraid of myself.
Afraid I'll cut someone
Afraid I'll use the knife in my pocket
Afraid I'll snap and fight back
Or not fight at all.
Afraid I'll hurt my dear sisters
They are my life
Fear comes in many forms
So I guess I am afraid.
But I'm not afraid of you.
