A recipe for French-style Garlic Bread

Delicious with pasta and steak. Also makes a nice side for meatloaf, stroganoff, borscht and other dishes. Can be used with pita bread instead as well.

1 loaf of crusty white French bread, one day old
1/4 cup of real butter, melted
6 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
a handful of chopped shallots
sea salt, black pepper

Spray a nonstick baking pan with Pam. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Take out a bread board and a bread knife. Slice bread horizontally into 1" wedges. Mix shallots and garlic with melted butter. Dredge over each slice. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place a handful of Parmesan on each slice. Arrange on an angle to cover baking pan. Bake for three minutes, then broil for up to three minutes. Serve with steak and french fries. It should serve up to six.
