A Love Poem to...Me?

Am I looking for a love that will last?
For a person who doesn't bailout fast.
Who when invited stays all night
and in the morning and doesn't take fright.
Someone to bring me tea in bed
and say all the things I need said.

Full stop. Back to reality
away from romance and banality.
Just for arguments sake
I make another tragic mistake
and this paragon never comes along
what will I do when all hope is gone?

Do I sit around and wish for what will never be?
or shrug my shoulder and agree
the most important love affair in life
isn't with a lover, husband or wife.
It's the love that you find in yourself that will last
when all other loves have drifted into the past.

You're the only person you spend my whole life with
so be careful how much of yourself you give.
When others in your life just take and take
turn out to be lying, fickle and fake.
Curl up alone in bed with a nice cup of tea
think how nice it is, to spend time with me!
