I have been watching Family Guy, with my husband, since it first came on the air. I have said it in the past and I still hold true to the belief that Family Guy is not funny, cute or entertaining. Now that we have children, I really find it replusive.
What is entertaining about watching a baby "Stewie" plot to kill Lois, his mother. Also, what is it with having Stewie cussing all the time? That is unacceptable on many levels. First off, don't we teach our children that there are words that are "bad" and should never be said and yet, there's a baby on televison saying them. We also teach our children to respect their elders yet, do they see Stewie doing it? No! Whereas, many people will say it's "just a television show" but what influences children more than the television?
On every episode, we see the old man, Chris' newspaper customer, "flirting" and coming on to Chris. This man is clearly a pedophile yet, we are to find him amusing. Let's see, if that was your next door neighbor and he was making comments like that to your son, wouldn't you call the police? I know I would. Isn't this contradicting what we are teaching our children about "strangers" and the proper way adults should behave around children. What's so irritating is that Chris doesn't seem to "get it" and he's clearly old enough. What gives with the writers? They are a little "off" if you ask me if they find having a pedophile character entertaining.
Let's not talk about Brian, the dog. We now move from pedophiles to beastiality. Our children watch a dog (with 4 legs and a tail) going out with women (mainly Jillian) and talking about "doing it" with her. In this day and age, even younger children know what "doing it" means. We have also seen him going out on a date with a teacher. YUCK! Get a grip!
Another example of beastiality is when Lois' father had the dog that was running the race. He accussed Brian of getting her pregnant and was extremely angry. Just as Brian was getting ready to be neutered, Lois runs in and stops the surgery. When Brian enters the "delivery" room, he sees puppies that have dog bodies with Lois' father's face. There's no doubt that we are to believe Mr. Puttersmith had sex with his dog and somehow she got pregnant. Really, that's a cool message to be passing along?
I can't remember one episode that I have enjoyed. I really believe this show should be taken off the air so that no other child has to be influenced by all the wrong messages. I have emailed FOX but never received a response. I believe more people should take more incentive and speak up against this show. Our world doesn't need any more corruption.
