Everyone likes to fit in and be a part of something. That's why we create social groups. We are like animals; we're divided into categories, like reptiles, birds, mammals, and fish. Except for we've got more detailed names. You've got your jocks, preps, nerds, emotionals, lower class, upper class, and of course the misfits. The question is, what brings together all of these people? Weddings? Sometimes. Reunions? Maybe. Parties? Rarely. Festivals! Depends. In order to create diversity in your event, you've got to provide entertainment for all of your groups. This can be difficult, but easier than you think. You've just go to ask yourself, what would I like if I was part of this group?
The funny thing is what attracts people are - people. You know this is true because every time you drive by a car accident or someone being pulled over you have to stick your head out the window and ask, "What's happening? What's going on? Who? What? Why?" It's because people have to know what's going on. As much as we hate waiting in lines we love the fact that there are crowds. This means it's the place to be.
The first step is attracting people. Most festivals do this by setting huge signs through streets showing dates and times. This helps, well a little. But there are a few huge details that really packs people in.
One important factor is your lights. And you need big ones! Large bright lights that you can spot from miles away. They also need to multicolored and brilliant. Try to use bright colors like red, yellow, and green. Bright colors attract people. Wherever there are lights there are people! And where ever there are people there is food!
This brings us to food. Everyone loves food, especially at festivals. Good food for this event includes cotton candy, popcorn, corndogs, chicken on a stick, pretzels, icees, corn on the cob, caramel apples, lemonade, hot dogs, hamburgers, and of course fries!
Other than food what attracts people is free stuff. Whenever someone hears the word "free" you see ears pop up like dogs and eyes widen searching around like, "Free? Did he just say free? What's for free? I want free stuff. I like free stuff." Free stuff doesn't even have to be good free stuff, it just has to be free. Free stuff is also known as prizes. You can give out prizes such as shirt they'll never wear or hats and they will jump up and down for ten minutes. And a good way to give out free stuff is by having contests. Great contests include a man on a microphone calling out questions
