Does history repeat itself

by James Taylor

Created on: July 11, 2008

Indeed, history does repeat itself. But this isn't the real story here. They story is all about "why?" This is where each of you reading this article fit into this repeating history event.

911 is a great example of how this works. It brought the peace-makers of the world together. Of course they could have come together before...but they didn't. There is a likelihood the U.S. dollar will collapse. When it does, communities will need to band together to survive. Of course, they could have banded together before...but they haven't.

Human beings throughout history have required disasters and some form of destitution to force us all to cooperate and move beyond our bias and arrogance. Of course, we always had the choice prior to such events. So you see, it is us repeating old mistakes. Most people do the same thing in relationships by repeating the same scenario again and again. Why do they repeat their own bad history? People...we need to wake up!

Within these examples are the answer to the "Why?" question. We demand history repeat itself to bring us all back together. We just don't seem to start helping and loving each other until we are forced to do so. Do you think the world is together right now? Nope. The world grew smaller and we grew more divided ...just as we have historically done many times before. Don't believe this? Then let us go a little further down this historical rabbit hole.

When was the last time you helped someone you currently have chosen to disconnect from? Let's say you are Ku Klux Klan member: When was the last time you helped a black person with their chores? Never? I bet not. Now, let us take you, the Klan member and place you in the middle of disaster. No water, no electricity, no food and no shelter. New Orleans was a great example of this. Do you think that white folks that hated black folks and visa versa were not helping each other? They were! They required extreme circumstances to make them realize what was really important. They shared the same need for the same basics. In this event, they learned to appreciate each other.

This is always were history does a turn-about. Strip away all the externals and leave us all in the same boat and we become immediate friends. Shame on us for requiring such for ourselves. We can choose this without it.

Do we really desire more Hitlers and Napoleons so we can follow them to their historical destined failures? Google the recent article by Seymour Hurst in the New Yorker who broke the news on George
