In Which There are Lies
For the sake of "national security"
it taps our phones illegally
this government, "by the people"
for the people" (such hypocrisy)!
puts cruel prisons cross the world,
Foreboding secret places
where no kindness abides
and deceptions
glaring from the headlines
bury the truth
deep within the lies.
Empty faces masquerade
as greed, politicians with
too many possessions
and regressions
prey on fear and greed,
speak platitudes
with honeyed words
and phony attitudes
tell us what we need to believe,
that the "war on terror"
grants them the right
to strip our civil liberties
while the average citizen
watches "reality" television
lulled into apathy
while the wars rage on
in his name
and the government
still plays its games
while Big Brother oversees.
