Jock Itch is a contagious infection caused by various types of fungus. It infects the surrounding areas of the groin and inner thigh. Jock Itch can cause,
itching
burning
scaling
chafing
red rash on inner thighs
The groin provides a warm dark, and humid environment that encourages fungus growth.
Jock itch is highly contagious and is contracted by contact with an area infected with athlete's foot or ringworm. Excessive perspiration can also encourage fungus growth. Wearing tight fitting undergarments for long periods of time can promote the growth of fungus in the groin area.
Some things you can do to help prevent Jock Itch are
keep your body clean and dry
shower immediately after athletic activities
wear loose clothing whenever possible
do not share clothing or towels with others
wash clothing and towels frequently
Terbinafineis a topical antifungal sold under the brand name Lamisil. Lanisil comes in cream form and in a spray. Use lambisil 4 times a day up to 4 weeks. Lambisil should not be used more than 4 weeks. Side effects of lambisil could include burning, stinging, dryness, and itching. Do not cover the area with a dressing. As Lamisil begins to work, you should notice a decrease in the number and size of lesions.
Clotrimazole, brand name Lotrimin. Lotrimin is available in topical cream and lotion. Side effects and adverse reactions of Lotrimin are, rash, stinging, burning, and pealing of the skin. The use of over the counter medications should be avoided while using Lotrimin. Sex should be avoided until the infection is cleared.
