Controversy surrounding teens and prescription drugs

Well, as a eight teen year old teen girl drugs was deffently all around me. All through highschool, middle school, everywhere. Now me personally all my life I hated drugs because I saw all my friends die because of them or getting killed because of them, and I didn't want to become one of them. But, was I ever so wrong.
After a long term relationship of mine had crashed and burned a left me devistated I ended up changen my perspective on drugs real quick. But, I had still not let my guard down yet. It took me one wrong turn and a lot of wrong crowds to do so. Not till about mid July of 2007 did I even try my first "blunt". I never got hooked intil January when I made a drastic change from "Pot" to my perscription pills. Within five days of taken them heavily and constently I became hooked. It made me forget everything and just made me a zombie it felt like. It wasn't till I found out I was to become a teen mother till I relized my actions were not what I wanted my son to learn let alone my youngest sister. I knew I had to change and I had to change quick. But, how was I going to I was so hooked.

Well, let me tell you something it wasn't easy but I did it and I did it in three weeks. It took a lot of my real close and GOOD friends to help me. They kept me away from everyone that just brought me down. But, most of all it was me who wanted to change. I was sick of who I was and I wanted the real me back the girl that didn't need drugs to make her happy. I told myself everyday "I got to stop I can't screw up my childs life before he's even born andI can't be a big sister and teach her the right ways if I'm like this." Finally I did it and drugs were out of my life.
It has now been almost six and a half months drug free and I couldn't be happier. Now I have a better relationship with my real friends and my family then ever before and most of all I know my son is healthy. Teens now a days have easier access to drugs then ever. Now more then ever we need to stand by our children and help them. Friends, family and everyone needs to pull together to help all teens before it's to late and they get hooked and perscription drugs turn in to street drugs like Acid, Herion, Cocain and everything else. I think if we pull together and talk to each other more often then we might just be able to save our teens.
Parents don't quickly jump to "My child needs help." They don't need to see a counslor. Trust me I know! That's the number one way I think that all our teens are getting all these perscription drugs. I was proscribed to Trileptal for mood swings when really I just needed a little more attetion and positive things in my life. But, because my parents thought there was something mentally wrong with me I was dignosted wrong and put on drugs I really did not need and should of never had gotten in the first place. All teens go through phases at all different times in their lifes. So if your child is acting out don't right away think it's cause of drugs or cause they are losen it in the head. Just try and talk to them or try to get a close friend of theirs that you trust and your child trust to sit down and try and get them to open up to you or them and tell you whats really going on.
