Remember the Alamo!: The seige at Alamo mission

Understanding the meaning of Master of Chutzpah is to understand how Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna led his life. He believed everything he did was right. He had the chutzpah, or utter nerve' to do things the way he wanted, no matter the consequences. In Santa Anna's life his motivation was power, and riches. Santa Anna had the ability to believe what he wanted them to believe, behave the way he wanted them to behave and throughout his life normally he got everything he wanted. What he wanted was to be looked upon as a hero, besides acquire frame and fortune. Santa Anna did not care who he stepped on while achieving his goal at the time, hurt killed or otherwise to get what he wanted. This pattern would repeat itself continually throughout his life.


Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, born in 1794 entering the military at age 16 as a cadet he was well trained in battle, and turned out to be a grand leader in the eyes of many he lived a long life and died at the age of 82, he was often call the Master of Chutzpah or the Unsinkable Antonio Lopes De Santa Anna, is looked upon as one of the major villains of Texas during the 19th century. Antonio de Santa Anna was well known as a great fighter, and participated in many battles and wars.

Santa Anna was a strong supporter of Emperor Agustin de Iturbide, who led the fight to free Mexico from the rule of Spain. Santa Anna who once supported Emperor Agustin de Iturbide was obliging in the overthrowing of the Emperor in 1823. The Emperor escaped to Italy, only to return to Mexico, branded a trader and executed. Santa Anna was beginning to display his cut throat approach and thirst for power.

Santa Anna was well known as a great fighter, and participated in many battles and wars. Once again he would back a man for president in 1828, Vicente Guerrero only to attain his own agenda. In 1829, Santa Anna led yet another fight against Spain in their attempt to reconquer Mexico. This allowed him to be looked upon very favorably by the people of Mexico. After this battle he was given the name Hero of Tampico.

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna was not only a chief general during the upheaval in the mid 19th century. He was also President of Mexico. He also led his troops during the Mexican American war. This is a role he would take on many times during his military career and his life
