Poetry: Touch

It had been ten million years
Since I felt the touch of your skin
Hot and smooth, rippling muscles
Hidden underneath a smattering of freckles

I had forgotten that the heat spread
From your body to mine so easily
Like the sun on a mid-august day
Warms the perpetually chilly lake

That quickly fleeting moment
When you laughed with me again
Brought to mind a hundred past
When you held me all night long

And liquid kisses rained down forbidden
More delicious for being wrong
Your hands trailed down my stomach
Raising bittersweet shivers and sighs

As my hands caressed your back
You looked into my pleading eyes
Seeing me for the first time unguarded
Finally, refreshingly, I wasn't scared

Touch me again and warm up my heart
So long unclad in any but bitter heat
Come to life my handsome idol
And show me how to properly worship

Or better still trust in me just once
Showing a faithfulness that I lacked
And I will let you hold the side of me
That only one saw, many years back
