Earning writing stars on Helium

To earn writing stars, one must write quality articles. So, publishing articles without a care as to their quality won't get a writer very far.

Also, writing stars are there to tell a writer what others think of their writing. There is also another bonus however. Depending on how many writing stars a writer has, they will be qualified for better rewards during special promotions.

Writers at the end of the day should strive for quality above quantity with their articles and this will reflect well on Helium as a whole. Also, it will force you to strive for excellence in whatever you do as the website is highly competitive.

A brief overview of how writing stars work:

A writer can earn a maximum of five writing stars. To qualify for earning the first one, a writer must have a minimum of four articles and they must rank on average in the top twenty-five percent. The average percentage of all your articles combined can be found at the "my helium" page of the website. If your articles rank on average in the top fifteen percent, then you will qualify for a bonus star. You can only earn a bonus star if you have four writing stars though and an average percent of eighty-five or better.

You can find the details on how to earn writing and rating stars by clicking on the stars you see by a writer's name, on your "my helium" page or by following this link:

However, the amount of articles you need to qualify for each star is (in the top quarter):

1) A total of four to twenty-nine articles.

2) Thirty to ninety-nine.

3) One hundred to two hundred and ninety-nine.

4) Three hundred to four hundred and ninety-nine.

5) Five hundred or more.

Also, the bottom ten percent of your articles isn't counted, when determining the average rank percentile of your articles. Last, twenty-five percent of your articles need to be in competitive titles to qualify for a writing star. A competitive title is one that has three or more articles written to it.

Below are some tips for acquiring writing stars.

Pick a topic you are familiar with:

At first, it is important to write about what you know. You are likely to create a better article that way. After you've written a number of articles, feel free to stretch your legs and move out of your comfort zone. Make sure you do your research first though.

Article length:

It is recommended you don't write more than one thousand, five hundred. It is also a good idea to not write the minimum amount of words you need to publish an article
