CHANGING SHEETS

As I once again change the bedding,
I remember last night's lovemaking-
our hearts were pumping double-time
and I'm sure I felt the earth shaking.

Each and every encounter is different,
most likely, depending upon our moods-
while some times are quiet and calm,
many others are demanding and crude.

Would I deflate your male ego
if I confided you were not the best-
and will it compensate things some
knowing I love you more than the rest?

Gently I enfold the pillow
upon which, last night, you layed your head-
and I whisper a private prayer
that you'll return soon to our bed.
