Humor: Dating

Have you ever gotten to the point where you are just fed up with always being on a diet? A time where you just have to have what you are craving whether it is good for you or not! Well, that time came to me recently when I decided to plan the next location for me and my wife's weekly date night.

What I yearned for was a burger! Not just any burger, but a cheesy one that is so juicy that it runs down your hand with each bite.

I decided to treat my wife to a good old fashioned dinner at P. Terry's Burger Stand, an original in Austin, Texas. Yea, I know, this sounds a lot like a cheap date, but the memories were what I was looking for.

As we pulled into the small but quaint parking lot of P. Terry's located at Lamar and Barton Springs, I could feel my saliva gland working overtime. The aroma of meat on the grill wafting upon my nostrils like a floating Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Looking over the menu was a breeze. It had few choice which made it easy to make a choice. I guess the quote, "Do only what you do well" fits here. Then again, limitations can have its' benefits.

My first choice thought was, "go healthy in an unhealthy environment." Yepthe vegetarian burger was a quick thought, but I quickly overpowered that thought and ordered a double meat cheeseburger. My wife ordered the same. In the end, we went healthy with only ordering one side of fries.

As we moved to the seating area (all outdoors), we were surprised to see a sand box with scoops and buckets, each worn well keeping the little ones occupied while waiting for the call of their number announcing their meal was ready.

We sat in silence as we downed our burgers and enjoyed the community fries, stopping only long enough to rave about how much enjoyment we were getting from our chosen meal.

Though we were on a busy street, we really did not notice. Music sprayed the air with familiar tunes from the 60's and 70's. Between the music and the sounds of traffic, it was not so loud that you could not have a nice conversation with your date or other family members. The only odd thing about the music is that the feel was more from the 50's, so you would have felt more at home with tunes, such as "Chantilly Lace", by Jiles Perry Richardson Jr., aka "The Big Bopper".

At least once a week, I pass by P. Terry's and dream about that wonderful date night with my wife and muse about the new memory we have created. For now, it has replaced the old, but one day, in all hopes, it will only be added to the many wonderful memories that flitter about in my mind as I go about each and every day.

Ah...memoriesthe stuff sent from God to keep us happy.
