As with all my car reviews, I will be grading the automobile in question out of 5 points in a number of different categories. These will be the factors which matter most to you, the average car buyer. Vehicles are not cheap, and it is my job to make sure that you get what you want at a price you can afford. The categories are as follows: Fuel Efficiency, Interior, Exterior, Safety and Value. This will result in a final percentage out of 25. However, you are more likely to value the features you need more, so take my words with a grain of salt.
Fuel Efficiency:
The 2009 F-150 boasts a 1 mile per galleon leg up on the 2008 series. This shows that Ford is trying to make better trucks. However, it still only boasts a total fuel economy of 14 mpg (combined from both highway and city). Ford should really start doing more to protect the environment, and gargantuan pickup trucks are not going to do anything to help that.
Fuel Efficiency Rating: 2/5
Interior:
This truck boast a seating capacity for 5, with a spacious cab and stylish black leather upholstery. All seat belts are the safer, shoulder belt style, for maximum protection of those who are inside. The inboard navigation system is a valuable asset to the lost driver. Heated and cooled seats are all designed for your seasonal driving. While your image of a pickup may be rugged on the outside, this interior will surely contradict one's normal ideas.
Interior Rating: 4.5/5
Exterior:
The F-150 comes in several different designs and colours, but they all retain the standard features you would expect in a pickup truck. A large storage area with strong, rugged tires will all be of assistance when hauling heavy loads around.
Exterior Rating: 4/5
Safety:
This new addition to the F-150 family boasts Outboard Mounted Rear Shock Absorbers, which are designed to reduce body leans, as well as controlling the movement of your axles on rough surfaces. Since you very well might be tucking some big loads, the anti-lock brakes can use their Electronic Brakeforce Distribution system to maintain capability under even the heaviest of loads.
Safety Rating: 3.5/5
Value:
This is a worthwhile investment if you plan on hauling lots of heavy or obscure cargo. With gas prices the way they are now, that should be an important factor when thinking about buying an F-150.
Value Rating: 3/5
Final Rating: 17/25
