You have to be taught to learn how to hate,
before you are five, six, seven or eight,
to hate all the people your relatives hate.
You have to be carefully taught.

Another Helium writer choose a different portion of the same song from the World War 11 Musical "South Pacific." A young marine lieutentent was sent to the south sea islands to enlist French planters to become coast watchers for enemy ships and planes.

He gets introduced to a Tonyenise woman who bargins for items from the CD's, commonly referred to as the Construction Battalon. He takes a boat over to the Island with an enlisted enterprising man, and gets introduced to Mary's daughter.

He comes from Philiadelpia Pennsylsvania and was promised to a girl back home. He was to enter into the family law firm. However, when he and a French planter become coast watchers,
he gets shot down by Japanese enemy planes. The heartbroken young girl does not want to merry an elderly french planter, she only wants to merry Lt. Cable.

The heorine nurse of the story, comforts the native island girl about the death of her lover.
My mother and I used to have lengthy conversations on the topic of their aborted love affair and romance. She reached the conclusions that Lt. Cable would become bored with living an idle Island life, and would return to his family. His family would break up their marriage, and give them no peace.

He would become bored just lying in the sun all the day and swiming in the warm island waters.
The racial predjuice against othe ethnic groups would rear its ugly head and damage their romance. The writers Oscar and Hamerstein, who wrote the musical knew that their relationship would not work out, and had Lt. Cable die a war hero.

In the 1960's or 1950's movie Guess Whose Comming for dinner, a white female falls in love with a black male and takes him home to meet her family. Because of the racil embalance they strongly discourge the relationship. What about their children? They were not thinking about the problems of having offspring half white and half black. We did not watch the end of the movie it was too dramatic for us.

Cher Buno was the female half of the Sonny and Cher musical couple that rocked the 1960's before their untimely divorce. Cher wrote a song called Half Breed about the plight of a young girl who was half Indian and half white. She was rejected by both races who were against her from the day she was born. The Indians called her white, the whites called her an Indian Sqaw. She learned to hate the term half breed, and I do not blame her one bite.
