Tips for creating quality website content

Getting your hosting and domain up were easy, then you got all your scripts installed, your design up, and now you just need one more thing: content. Original and useful content on websites are what people come back for. How do you create good content though?

1) ORIGINALITY
Have original content. Even if it is a common article title, create a new approach. It's not a hard concept, it just may require some brainstorming. When you spend more time on a piece of content, people can tell. Do that whole pre-writing thing: free write, get some main points, alter your main points, rough draft, edit, edit again, and then release the final copy on your site.

2) QUALITY
Your a good writer. How many of you caught that? 'You're a good writer' would be correct obviously, and its easy to see how a small grammatical errors can easily distract. Even if everyone won't catch that, if there are an abundance of errors it will be noticed by everyone. Higher quality articles will look more professional, and more people will actually listen to what you have to say. Avoid run on sentences and too many commas. Incorrect punctuation doesn't only look bad, but can ruin the flow of reading.

3) QUANTITY
Quantity is always under quality, however, you should always make as many quality articles as possible. If you only have a few pieces of useful content on your site, your visitor will read them, then leave-possibly never to return. Make your visitors crave returning for more information. Also, keep your site updated with new content as time goes on. Anybody can eventually read all your content, or the content their specifically interested in. Keeping it updated prevents them from reaching the end.

4) VARIETY
Have a variety of content on your website. Although your website may cover one topic, have many different sub-topics related to it. For instance, a writing website should have content on writing tips, writing success stories, business writing, technical writing, reporting, and creative writing. Someone who is a reporter will get bored quickly on a site where there is only creative writing, or vice versa.

An additional benefit to having great content is that word spreads fast. You may be getting blog reviews without you asking the owner to review you! As your website gains loyal visitors and new visitors, you and your site will gain popularity. A popular website helps sell a product, sell a service, or get information and your opinions out to the world.
