Monster.com is a joke! I realize by making that statement an explanation is required, and I have plenty. First, Monster.com is supposed to be used as a free job search. However, the "Monster.com Premium" states you have to pay $8.99 to get noticed three times more often by recruiting employers. This must mean if you don't pay the $8.99 per month monster.com is sending you the weakest leads. The reason I believe this is because I have had Monster.com for two years. I had been constantly applying to different jobs. Every once in a while I would get a call from an employer stating that they want to interview me. It seemed all good. However, about 90% of the employers were out of state, or far out of the county.
Yes, I have Monster.com, and yes I was really excited about posting my resume. I was out of a job, and felt productive applying to about 20 employers a day. Although the phony job search soon came to an end. I never canceled my account, and from time to time I do apply for a couple jobs. However, from the time I started my account with Monster.com I have not gotten even one promising job offer. This leads me to believe, if I pay the $8.99 a month, I might be able to "get noticed three times by more employers". The whole reason I need a job is to make money, not to go wasting it on false hopes and fancy resumes.
If it weren't for Monster.com I would still have my old e-mail address. When I signed up for Monster.com I was looking for a job. I definitely was not looking for a free credit report, owning my own car, loans to start my own business, or any of the other spam Monster.com put my e-mail address on the list for. Not to mention the three e-mails a day I receive from monster with a "Job Search of the Day". All consists of out of state, and out of county jobs, which are unattainable.
Learning from my experience with Monster.com I would advise anyone not to waste his or her time posting their resume. Unless you want to upgrade to "Monster Premium", and if you do good luck to you and e-mail address. If you are seriously looking for employment I have found it better to find the business you wish to work at and send your resume to them directly. Within two weeks of taking matters into my own hands I am happy to say I found my dream job. Monster.com is the lazy way to get your resume out there. I would say Monster.com, and other comparable websites are nothing more than a glorified online employment agency that yields no results.
