Poetry: Romantic pain

HIS SIDE OF THE BED

I fight the thoughts that enter my head
Thoughts of tomorrow are what I dread
He's packed his things and left for good
Rewind the mistakes, if only I could

I'll always remember the good times we had
I almost forget why he made me so mad
Fighting became our way of life
Our happiness could not survive

Ugly words became the norm
Intentionally causing harm
Time apart was a relief
No love given to receive

My heart is screaming fear
Cause loneliness is near
We've tried this ride time and time again
Now I've lost my really good friend

Sometimes I feel I've lost my mind
Life is running and I'm way behind
I hate the thoughts running through my head
Every time I look at his side of the bed
