or see a lot of shiny objects in it, this is a sign of gear wear and should be looked at by a professional, I would suggest sooner then later because a particular gear may need to be replaced. *
Once all of your oil is drained, look for your oil filter, it should be located on one side of your engine, when you find it, you should be able to remove it with your hands or a very slight tug of a big wrench, your oil filter should never be placed on tighter then hand tight, from there grab your new oil filter and dip one of your fingers in the oil and run it around the threads of your new oil filter and then hand tighten the new oil filter onto your vehicle and then place your bolt back onto your vehicles oil filter, double check to make sure both your new oil filter and the bolt for your vehicles oil pan has been placed back onto the vehicle. Remember the vehicles oil pan bolt should be securely tightened with a wrench while the oil filter should be snug, hand tight.
Now your read to get out from under your vehicle and place the new oil into your vehicle, grab or make a funnel and place it in the big hole on your engine where you removed your oil plug for and put your new oil in, your vehicle on average should take around 4 to 5 liters of new oil, 4 liters for your engine and one liter for your oil filter. Periodically check your oil level by removing the dip stick found near your oil cap, pull it out and wipe it clean then put it back in the hole, pull it out again and see where the oil lines up, there should be a max line on the dip stick, if you have placed all the oil into your car and it seam's like there is not enough or two little oil in your vehicle do not worry, start up your vehicle for about 5 or 10 minutes to circulate your new oil (It does not matter if your oil cap is placed back on at this point just make sure nothing but oil get's placed down that hole), redo these step's to get your oil level to where it should be at, don't worry if it's a bit over, it will burn down when you use your vehicle.
Now put your oil cap back on your engine, funnel your old oil that is still in your plastic oil pan into your empty oil container that held your new oil and dispose of it in the appropriate manner, usually any automotive repair place will take your oil for you, simply tossing your oil into the dump can have serious environmental effects and comes with a hefty fine if your caught contaminating the soil with it.
Congratulation's you've just learned how easy it can be to change your own oil, and once you've done it the first time, It'll be as easy as one, two, three the next time around, I hope you enjoy your new endeavor and have fun doing it.
