Now, as I think to myself and ponder events, what's to be said next? My thoughts are taking me elsewhere. I am pushing myself to extremities, and I am accomplishing nothing. I think back to where men have begun, and yet, even they had set out to perform a task and left it undone. And so what's to be said next? My thoughts are taking me elsewhere...
I believe the role of focus in our lives, is not merely "focus" itself, but what it is that we have been focusing on; Or better yet, what we haven't been focusing on. For many individuals in the world today actually think that they do not have the ability to focus, let alone understand its role. It is the same with "reason". Why did the Lord give us (being man) the ability to "reason"? So that we could find Him. And why did He give us the ability to focus? What is its role, what part does it play among the "clay", and what is its purpose. Were you focusing? For I just asked the same question three times worded differently...
You see, I have a brother who has an extremely difficult time with "focusing" on any given thing. Whether it be an object of reverence, a thought or an idea, people in general, etc. For my brother has attention deficit disorder(ADD), and is "completely" incapable of focusing as well as those who don't suffer from the actual disorder. However, when his heart holds fast to any specific person, place, or thing, the ability to focus becomes beyond comprehending, as if the disorder was never there. I find it somewhat amusing and ironic at the same time.
And so I consider my brother, as I reminisce. I'm thinking, "what's to be said next?" In conclusion, I must say I believe that every man, woman, and child that has existed, exists, and will exist, is without excuse. Because the heart and soul of a man is like that which cannot be tamed, for it belongs to the Lord. And so we are all without excuse. Am I losing you? Lets continue...
So why did the Lord give us the ability to focus? So that we can find Him...
"Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord; Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land(that is, teachings, to you and me); But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." Truly the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 1:18-20)
And the role is simply thus: To use our ability to focus on the Word of God; "Reason" with the Lord so that we may find Him, and return. And for any heart and soul of a man who desires to do this, whether they have the ability to focus or not, will do so if they truly want it with all their heart and soul. For the Lord must always have the final word.
"Return to Me," declares the Lord of hosts, "that I may return to you," says the Lord of hosts, "Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, "Thus says the Lord of hosts, return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds. But they did not listen or give heed to Me," declares the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 1:3,4)
