How to choose and decorate wedding arches

A wedding arch is the gateway to the altar or place you will be married at. It is the place you will first walk through unmarried, but your next steps through it will be as a married woman or man. For many folks the arch is a very important part of the wedding. It is the centerpiece that most people can't take their eyes off of. It is also a great place to take pictures under.

There are many different types of arch designs and styles to choose from. Choose a design that will match the type of wedding you are having. You might also want to consider your color schemes. Plain arches are generally cheaper and can be decorated to suit your tastes.

When you are deciding which is the right arch for you, think of your budget and what you can afford. Because arches can range in prices, it is also best to think of how often you will use it again after the wedding. If your arch's only purpose will be the ceremony, you might opt for renting one or getting a cheaper version from a discount store.

Another thing to consider when choosing an arch is how sturdy and durable it will be. The last thing you want is for your arch to collapse when you walk through it. If you can't afford an expensive sound arch, at least make sure that you secure it good and test it beforehand to make sure it will hold and remain stable throughout the duration of its use.

Now that you have chosen the arch that will hold up and match your current schemes, it is time to decorate it the way you want it. The sky is the limit when it comes to decorations. You can use most anything to decorate and as long as it is sturdy, the arch will hold plenty of beautiful add-ons.

Pick colors that will match your clothes, flowers, and general wedding schemes. You can use fake flowers to give the arch of a very floral intimate look. Just bend the stems of the flowers and weave them in and out of the spaces in the arch. Ribbons and pieces of lace are also great add-ons and work well to pull the arch together with a romantic appeal.

Another option is to drape material across the top of the arch to give it a canopy effect. You can use lace, denim, silk, or any other type of material than you choose. Just use small safety pens or pieces of ribbon to secure it from falling or coming undone. Many people even prefer to use banners boasting the wedding or a congratulations message.
Be sure to hide all loose ends and eyesores with something simple. You can even double up on flowers or balloons to cover up things that look less than desirable. Once you have decorated your arch, step back and take a look at it. If you see changes you would like to make, do so. If you are happy with what you have done, smile and walk away. If you keep redecorating the same spots over and again, you will only cause yourself more stress.

Many arches come in one piece while others must be put together. An idea that may help you avoid accidental injuries is to decorate the arch as you are putting it together. If you are unable to do that, just stand on a sturdy ladder or step stool and make sure that you have someone there to brace you so that you don't fall.

Remember that as long as you are happy, that is all that matters. If you like the way things look then it is ready to be used. If you are still unsure of how you want it, don't be scared to ask around or look at ideas from other people's ceremonies. Decorating for the wedding is only half the battle. Don't let it frustrate you. If all else fails, you can leave it empty. Sometimes, simple is for the best too.
