All mothers look forward to doing their little girls hair. Its part of the fun of having a girl, I think. We all dream about growing our daughters hair long. We see braids and pig tails. Lots and lots of bows and head bands. So many possiblities! But the reality of it is that your little girl will have her own opinion on what she likes and wants. She will not always agree with our viewpoints on hair style.
My daughter is two years old and has lovely dark gold hair that flows with curls. When straightened out it reaches past her shoulders. I have spent many a morning putting her hair in a pony tail, pig tails, a small braid, even placing ribbons in her hair. It has all proved hopeless. She will patiently wait for me to finish and then it will last about an hour and then she pulls it all out. The hair style is gone and her hair is back to the free flowing style that she prefers. So my little toddler has very definite ideas on what she likes and wants. My opinion doesn't play much of a part in her preference.
Many parents find the dream of long flowing hair and little girls just doesn't mix. They find it far easier to cut their little girls hair in a fun short easy to care for style. There are a wide variety to choose from that make little heart faces adorable. These styles are a wonderful wash and go alternative for the busy parent and the child who doesn't want to sit still and have her hair combed or brushed. They are easy to wash and they dry with no trouble. Plus they stay out of the on the go toddlers eyes so play becomes much easier.
With the popularity of such preschool shows as Dora The Explorer more and more little girls are entering the beauty parlor and requesting to look just like their little hero. The Dora cut is taking little girls hair by storm. Its a simple style. When I was a child it was called the 'pixie'. But nowadays its known for the cartoon character that all little girls seem to recognize. This cut is a wash and go style that is never outdated and always fun and cute for little faces. It doesn't matter if your angel has blonde hair, red hair, brown hair, or black. It looks good no matter what.
So when choosing a hair style for your little girl let her have a say in what she wants and likes. Many parents over look the opinions of their own children and elect to only go with their own likes and dislikes. But your little one is an individual who will have very firm outlooks when it comes to the style of her own hair. So let her feel like a big girl and let her opinion count. Get a magazine and look at styles together or discuss them from televisions shows she sees. Weigh ot the many options and I'm sure you will find something that makes you both happy.
