Poetry: Opposing perspectives

by Carmelo Piparato

Created on: July 08, 2008

Old poetry or new

Wond'ring at the present, pursuing the past
Possessing and pursuing with much delight
Summon up remembrance of writings past
How Mine heart flutter when you do write

But being both present and past be friend
Worse essays proved thee my best of love
What strained rhetoric rhyme can lend
But since they'd died no poets been above

poetry thou art all the better part of me
To the hand that writ it, for I love you so
Tis thy spirit that thou sends' from thee
Their virtue hence is always in your show

More than that tongue that more hath more expressed
Their antique pen would have less depressed
