Whilst some folks use their potting shed for wistfully whiling away the hours and socializing with other gardeners, some others use theirs for passionate embraces amongst the perennials, or as a less exciting but equally useful storage facility, or simply to aid them with their gardening endeavours. But whatever your own individual needs are, you can be sure that a potting shed can help you to fulfil them.
GETTING AWAY FROM IT ALL.
If you have a busy life full of dashing to and fro then a potting shed may become your very own haven where you can relax, kick off your shoes and pursue peaceful private hobbies from craft work to actually planning your garden.
The potting shed has become more and more popular in recent years and has enticed women to indulge in owning one as well as the more regular male users.
Personalising your shed has become a joyful activity leading shed owners to paint theirs in bright colors, decorate them in unusual themes, or to just add little private touches here and there to make them a home from home.
COMMUNITY BONDING
Having a potting shed in a community plot can open up a new social life for you, as you meet other like minded folks who enjoy a friendly chat with you on a regular basis, and with whom you can swap gardening tips and tell your troubles to.
It is not unknown for shed users to visit each other in their different sheds to enjoy a cup of tea or a small mug of cider to wind down with at the end of the day.
STORAGE
Potting sheds are essential for the casual, as well as the serious gardener, who can benefit greatly from the space they provide in-which to keep their gardening tools and keep other much needed materials safe and sound.
By making special areas in-which to hang, stack and pile equipment you can keep items in good repair, while making them easily accessible.
Pots, tools, compost bags, oddment of turf and seeds and bulbs can be kept dry and easy to find in your shed.
RAISING SEEDLINGS
Many potting sheds have a potting bench where seedlings can be raised and given a start in life. Grow lights can be added for extra warmth to bring on plants faster and to help keep them happy, away from harsh weather and furry intruders who may otherwise have dug them up before they were established, or worse still slugs and snails.
PLANNING
Potting sheds are a great place for planning and for thinking. Away from distractions and other responsibilities you can set your mind on accomplishing and working towards tasks that you wouldn't normally have time for.
If it is your gardening that you intend to plan then you can hang a calender board on one wall of your shed to remind you when to carry out particular tasks associated with certain times of the year.
PLANT SORTING
Dividing and sorting plants can be done in comfort in your shed, without having to concern yourself with bad weather when it is raging outside. Inside, you can be tucked up cosy and happy with a cup of hot coffee and an iced bun in-between your plant dividing.
DRYING
If you grow flowers for drying or herbs then your potting shed is a perfect place to put a drying rack that you can raise, with the aid of pulleys, above your head to allow you extra room when not in use.
When all is said and done a potting shed can be a delightful bonus to your everyday life, providing you with a your own place where you can do as you wish. You may even like to use it to garden in.
