Tea, its the best drink of the day, no matter what, that first cuppa in the morning tastes the best, well for me it does.

For a long time, I tried drinking coffee first thing in the morning before I went to work, but over time, I have reverted back to tea as I feel more refreshed, less buzzy and clear headed.

I am not denying that a nice cup of coffee mid morning gives that extra kick after the initial start to the day, as I do like a strong coffee either using filters or having an extra special treat from Starbucks, but mid afternoon, its a tea drink that really revives me again.

I have tried many varieties of tea over the years, but I guess my favourites is good old fashioned PG Tips, its a good taste and does not leave you with T breath, i.e. I don't need to reach for the mints to take the taste away.

Recently, having troubled abroad to Italy, I was quite intrigued as how tea was served to me, and every time, the water was not hot enough, and the tea, well it just was not PG and also the milk. I am sorry but it does have to be full fat milk, this skimmed milk does not do the trick and tastes awful.

On a very hot day, I have found that tea can be the more cooling drink than a glass of juice or other such refreshment.

Having that right balance of not too much milk, hot water and not too strong a tea is crucial for the right cup of tea.

Have you ever been somewhere absolutely gasping for a drink and only to be disappointed with a lukewarm, dishwater cup of tea? I am always amazed at how many people cannot make a decent cuppa.

I always remember my Nana making tea, and she always warmed the pot first and added as many spoonfuls of real tea (not T bags) as we now have, and added that extra one for luck. Every time, a wonderful cup of tea. Served with Digestive biscuits. It's funny when I think back to those cosy times, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

I don't think I have been anywhere in the world where I can only say that I have had a better cup of tea than over in good old England. Neither have I ever recaptured that tea experience that I had with my Nana.

I often feel that tea making is just a tradition that is passed on through a family to the next generation, but I do know one thing and that is how many of the younger generation prefer tea to coffee and are quite particular about how it is made.

Tea is good for you too, with its antioxidants flushing out toxins, or so they say.

I suppose coming from England its a tradition that tea is the order of the day, and whilst I like to think of myself as ahead of the times and trying different cultures and traditions, I must say that tea is the perfect drink to sit down and relax with at the end of a long hard day.
