Reasons for reading the Bible

There is only one God that has mercy on evil men. There is only one God that sacrificed Himself so that men might live. There is only one God that doesn't wash His hands of His people when they fail Him, betray Him or go astray. There is only one God that knows His chief enemy's (Satan) every move. There is only one God that allows two way communication with His people (From Him through His word and us through our prayers). There is only one God that rescues men from certain doom.

How do I know these things? By reading this ancient book. Believing the words found therein are the "skeleton key" that unlocks some of the many mysteries of this great God: Romans 10:17 - "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." And the daily providence of God is scattered everywhere: Acts 14:17 - "Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

God's word is His revelation of Himself to us. It tells us in part who this great God is. Without His word we wouldn't know He is the creator: Romans 1:20 - "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse. Reading the bible is where one starts to really believe what one has been told about God, but it's only the start, for there is an intended end: intimacy with Him. Reading this book is where imperfect people learn they can have a relationship with a perfect God. It gives us a heads-up on the will of God. All of the answers are found between its covers for a successful life. There isn't a greater treasure that man can have: Psalm 119:162 - "I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil." Therefore, it's not just another religious book, it's the literal word of God, it's a divine book: 2 Timothy 3:16 - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

God's word is help to help us learn about us. No other book gives an accurate account of man's physical and spiritual origin. No other book accurately details man's history, present nor gives us our tomorrow with such boldness, clarity and truth. Reading His word is the primary way His children hear from Him. It tells a dying man how to be rescued from our natural nature (we love sin) and eternal death (the consequences
