While researching new cars on a popular auto website I came upon a section entitled "Tru Cost to Own". This section of the site is in reference to the total cost of an automobile over a certain period of time with consideration to wear, tear and maintenance. After investigating and realizing that the purchase of a new car is an enormous rip off I began thinking (not always a good thing) about the Tru Cost to Own of other items especially items that woman purchase.
For example let's look at something as simple as women's shoes. Keep in mind that when a man buys shoes it's because the one pair he owns at the moment has seen enough lawn mowing, jogging workouts, and weddings to warrant a new pair. Women buy shoes because the pair she's now wearing is killing her. So many attempted murders are done by women's shoes that they should be investigated buy the guys from CSI.
When my wife makes her periodic shoe jaunt it is with all good intentions to purchase one comfortable, practical, and hopefully stylish pair. Armed with her coupons (covered in a previous article) and her "bargain stealth," B.S. for short, she heads off to the closest mall or specialty shoe store. Once there she will encounter a myriad of "on sales", "buy one get off", or "buy one pair at the regular price, get the other pair at equal or lesser value free", enticements. After she has located her choice of foot apparel, tried them on all to her eventual contentment and made the final purchase from a price of $80 to a price of $14.98 because of the combined store founder discount, coupon, and spring sale, she is then ready for the real "Tru cost to Own" culmination. The shoes were just the beginning.
To women, the shoes are the base of any outfit, a clothing foundation if you will. One cannot purchase footwear without at least considering outerwear and this usually means the procurement of something that will match and bring out the true aesthetics of the newly acquired foot embracer. So while making her way back to her car via any non direct route within the mall or department store she will pass many items from belts to handbags to dresses and jeans while keeping in mind how if bought, these items will enhance and embolden the essence of her new shoes. In the end the Tru Cost to Own new shoes will include a new pair of pants and or dress at $29.99 ( she can wear it to work or to a picnic), a hand bag for $14.99, regularly $89 ( the ultimate in shoe accessory), and finally another
