Poetry: Friendship humor

by Eve Fasham

My friend is worth her weight in gold,
Gets the gossip, secrets told,
Borrowing clothes, money and stuff,
I really cannot get enough.

Sharing a drink, falling down,
Being silly and acting the clown,
Causing chaos, wherever we go,
Why we do it, I'll never know.

Shouting, screaming, argue all night,
Safe in the knowledge that all will be right,
Falling out, not speaking for days,
Having a giggle, the friendship stays.

One day we'll grow up, best friends that we are,
We'll never get boring, we're too mad by far,
Lunching and brunching, shop till we drop,
Our crazy friendship will never stop.

Birthdays are coming, it's party time,
We not too old yet, at seventy nine,
The youngsters today, they don't have the strength,
To take a friendship to such incredible lengths.
