On Happiness
Many spend entire lives
hunting down this elusive
treasure which,
ironically enough,
can only be found within.
While the greedy anticipate it
gift-wrapped
as heaping bank accounts,
luxurious mansions
and ornate jewels,
the power-hungry covet
its superficial symbols
like fantasy cars, designer
couture or sports trophies,
and the masochistic indulge
in lasciviousness, gluttony
and feasts of mind-altering
substances.
Yet happiness exists
in the quiescent mind,
in moments of lucidity,
in the peace of Illusion's
temporary dissolution,
deep at the heart of the soul,
and in the essence of Being
(which really is Becoming.)

Inside you feel warmth

Cottage by the Sea
The day is done and the world asleep,
and the evening’s fire warming my feet.
Soft mist swirls
