Poetry: Existence

On Cursing Rain

The random events of time and place
Play havoc on my brain
And I complain bitterly
About unfair twists of ironic fate
Of lovers lost
And the empty space within my soul
Either senselessly numb
Or filled with chronic pain.

And I wait in vain
For God to deal a better hand
Containing aces back to back
As alone I face the cards I hold.

Who can explain if I am cursed or hexed
Or merely vexed
That love is absent from my life,
Or why I cling tenaciously
To such insane obsession
Of finding passion
` Lying on a horizontal plane?

Alas, I feign that all is fine
Unable to contain
The contemptible resentment
That reigns inside my mind;
But even as my grief grows old
And I know that no one is to blame,
It still remains.

Still, I hope someday
To gain the strength
To find the courage and the faith
To chase down dreams of happiness
My heart is longing to obtain
Once again.
