"Chase me," I yelled as I ran away.
The wind blew back my sloppy red pony tail as I raced through the woods. I knew that Mikey was behind me by all of the cracking sounds. One misstep and I was on my butt. Where did that hole come from? I brushed myself off to noticed that I'd really messed up this time. The walls of this hole reached up at least twenty-five feet. The wet soil collapsed as I tried get a grip to pull myself up. Wiping the dirt out of my eyes I knew that Mikey was my only chance, I was screwed.
"Mikey!? Are you up there? Mikey?"
I didn't hear anything but the wind blowing around the dry branches on the oak tree above. I yelled for what seemed to be an eternity. Eventually I heared Mikey's muffled voice in the distance. I kept yelling, hopin that he was watching where he was walking. They had finally caught up to me.
"Mikey be careful! There is a hole! I am stuck down here!"
"You are so gonna get us in trouble! We aren't supposed to be out here! Wait there and I will go and get the rope from my house," Mikey stuttered.
"No, don't leave it's almost dark. You will never find me again," I pleaded, but he was already gone.
Sadly in my heart I knew that he was not coming back. Mikey was always a sissy when it came to getting in trouble with his parents due to the fact that he had an alcoholic stepfather with a quick hand and a thick belt. I couldn't really blame him. I guess that I was gonna be on my own from here out. The sunlight began to fade so I decided to try and get some sleep until it was morning again, like I had many other options at that point. A hollowed hole in the side of the earth served as an okay bunkbed, that is until it began to rain. Cold and muddy I was sure that I was going to die alone down here. Somehow through all my chattering and bargaining with whatever god there could possibly be up there, I slept until morning.
Crackling footsteps filled my ears. It was Mikey, he'd finally grown some balls and brought me help! The bearded man that gazed down into the hole what not what I was expecting at all. His red flannel was covered in stickies from the bushes that lined the woods, his jeans dirty and torn. I was pretty far down and I could smell his body odor like I was sitting on his lap.
"I'll have you out in a second darlin, but it's gonna cost you."
The wanted my soul, I knew it.
"That's fine, just please get me out. I am so cold and dirty. Do you have any food with you sir?"
He did not
