Movie reviews: Wanted (2008)

It's rare indeed to hear Morgan Freeman drop an F-Bomb... yet drop it, he does in this summer's blockbuster hit "Wanted."

"Wanted" doesn't cross any new boundaries in the blood-n-guts department, but there is plenty of gore. Violence? Yes. Nudity? Partial - so it's probably not for the pre-teen set.

Packed with action, twists, turns, and surprises, "Wanted" will literally have you gripping the edge of your seat - or the arm of the person sitting next to you (hopefully they won't mind).

For the girls, James McEvoy gets manly. No, seriously. He starts out as a broken-down, shaky guy - and then transforms (with the help of a secret society, of course) into a studly tough guy who can take on the world.

Guys, you get a nice parting shot of Angelina Jolie strolling away from a bath tub.

That's not all, though. On top of all the eye candy in this phenomenal flick, there's actually a good plot and an easy-to-follow story line. Each character has that human element that so many movie characters lack, and you can actually empathize with most of them. You'll be rooting for the good guys, the bad guys, and those you're not certain about - that's how well-made this movie is.

The run-down: a secret society of assassins (who doesn't wish they belonged to one of those?) force their way into a young man's (McEvoy's) life. The young man, who was previously lost in the sauce, figures out who he is and what he's capable of. He makes a friend along the way (Jolie), who has much more going on than a voluptuous figure and perfectly arched eyebrows.

"Wanted" brings a few laughs, a few tears, and plenty of surprises - and you'll be well-stocked with new movie quotes, too. Jolie and McEvoy deliver realistic and stunning performances, as do all of the supporting actors. The best feature of this flick is the fact that you won't see the next scene coming; each twist shocks your socks off, because it's wildly unpredictable.

Throughout the majority of the movie, you will have been sitting on the edge of your seat. At the end, your jaw will drop in surprise and you'll finally sag back into the ergonomically-cushioned chair... and you won't be disappointed.

Filled with intrigue, secrets and lies (doesn't that sound like a day at the office to you?), "Wanted" is well-worth the price of a movie ticket - or two, if you're splurging - and you won't be disappointed.
