Summer Morning
The sun is shining, it's time to play
What will we find in the garden today
Gum nuts and pine cones and leaves of all kinds
To keep fingers busy and occupy minds
Wattle flowers and kangaroo paw
Bottlebrush seedpods what was that I just saw?
Rosella feathers with colours so bright
Look at the way they catch the light!
Let's get out the brushes and find the glue
So many things to make and to do
A gum nut Koala - a branch for his tree
A fun filled morning for you and me
We'll have lunch in the garden, joined by the dogs
Sit by the pond so we'll hear the frogs
See possums scurry from the roof to the trees
While dragon- and butter-flies float on the breeze
Then it will be time for a nap for you
While I will have some chores to do
Tomorrow we'll go out in the garden again
Let's hope we don't have summer rain!
