In this day and age, you can do anything you want, any time of the year. If you want a beach wedding in December- it might be a little chilly- but you can have it! And all the more, it would be original.
These days there really seem to be two types of brides, the traditionalist and the modernist. Although every bride would choose a completely different color scheme for August, these two types may choose something in general, of exact opposite natures.
First off, it's important to look at what folors are in season in August, this will make floral arrangements cheaper. The following flowers are in bloom in August: dahlias, calla lillies, dendrobium orchids, chrysanthemums and baby's breath. The colors from these flowers are: white, cream, ivory, gold, yellow, orange, pink, green, purple, lavender, red, burgandy, peach and black.
As you can tell, these leaves practically any color scheme an option for an August wedding, and in 2008, an color scheme is an option in August! Besides the obvious, such as write thank you notes, there are no more "rules" for weddings. The options for an August wedding are endless!
For the traditionalist in August, baby's breath might be used in the flower girl's hair and as bouteneirres. Yellow bridesmaid dresses make a beautiful addition to an ivory or champange colored wedding dress, and are very beautiful when worn with traditional pearls. If the bride wants to keep the montone colrs, she may opt to use callalilles in ivory or cream. If she desired to use colors that popped, she could use orange or pink flowers.
Another option would be to keep a very classic look, with black bridesmaids dresses and black callallies, and a black sash on a white or ivory flowergirl dress. This would look very nice in an evening August wedding with black tuxedos. Black is a classic. A color, such as red or purple, can be picked to use as an accent to use in reception flowers or with ribbon on nosegay boquets.
For the modern bride, green, peach, orange or red bridesmaid dresses might be something exciting. She may opt for the flowergirl to match the bridesmaids instead of matching herself. In fact, she may opt not to wear a white/ivory/gold but a bright color herself!
So, what are the perfect colors for an August wedding? There are no perfect colors for an August wedding. Just like there are no perfect colors for December, April, Feburary or July. There are simply perfect colors for YOUR wedding. So get out there, look around, flip through magazines and pick what you like. Don't worry about rules- it's your wedding, after all.
