Poetry: Eagles

"Eagle on High"

From the back roads,
Of the island,
To the towns and cities,
Far away,
From the shores,
Of Lake Superior,
To the coast of Georgian Bay,
Listen very carefully,
You'll hear an eagle's cry.
He's the master of his destiny;
He see's through golden eyes.
He's the majestic bird of prey,
That rules the endless sky.
Watch as he soars on high;
See him swoop and dive.
Listen in awe,
When he sounds his battle cry.
He's the ancient spirit of the north,
From which many a story,
Has come fourth;
As long as he lives,
The spirit of the north,
Shall never die.

Yes he's our majestic bird of prey;
He guards our northern sky.
He's the mighty eagle,
That floats effortlessly on high.
