Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble

3/5

This is a mildly amusing game. The free trial download will provide you with about 30 to 40 minutes of entertainment as you learn the intricacies of how to play. But after that brief time, you begin asking yourself "Is there anything more to this game?" Fortunately, it is at that point that the demo version of the game ends, and in a short virtual interview with the game designer "Madame Mousechief," you are ensured that the full version of the game has additional maps to explore, characters to meet, and mysteries to solve. Unfortunately, I had little desire to continue playing at this point anyway, and would not want to spend $20 for the opportunity.

The game takes place in a high school in the 1920's. The classic music and corny dialog fit together to give the game a "vintage" feel. You select as your character one of the girl students and quickly assemble a gang of girls. Then, like most gangs, you embark on the quest of solving a mystery on campus. It's like the Scooby Doo gang in a silent movie.

The game play consists of scrolling around the school map and clicking on silver icons that look like playing pieces on a board game that represent people. Then, to interact with those people, you play a mini-game to represent your attempt to "taunt", "fib", or "expose" them. Winning these games allows you to increase your ratings, such as "popularity" or "glamor," which makes winning future mini-games easier. You can also pick up clues towards solving the mystery on campus and flirt with boys.

Overall, it was a fun, short, and innovative diversion. Of particular amusement was listening to the exchange of insults during a taunting match between two girls from the 1920's ("You have the perfect personality for a snake charmer..." "...Don't worry, I would never want to charm you.") But, like I said earlier, it gets old quickly; And I doubt that adding additional content to the game would increase my enjoyment level. Also, since most of my enjoyment of the game comes from its novelty, it doesn't appear to have a high replay value.

Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble earns a 3 out of 5.
