Made in God's image
What does that mean, made in God's image? It can't be what most theologians have been espousing. Most say the three part being of body, soul and spirit which make up the whole man is the answer because its like the Godhead's three parts of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Agreed, we are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in body. The affirmation of that spiritual fact is Biblical. We read that in 1st Thessalonians 5:23. God is a spirit and we are spirit beings. That's true. If the rest is true into which category does the Son and Holy Spirit fall, the soul, or the body? Such explanations fall outside human logic and spiritual truth.
We are aware there are scriptures in which God declares his soul is involved. The Hebrew word used for soul associated with God is the Hebrew word Nephesh which is derived from the root word Naphash. Those words mean, to breath upon passively, refresh, a breathing creature. Strong's Concordance states the word Nephesh is used very widely in the literal, accommodated or figuratively sense. When Nephesh is used as God describing his soul it is to accommodate the understanding of the receiver of the word and is used figuratively much as Jesus used parables. God has inculcated with in self the ingredients of many souls, but in the sense his make up is defined by soulish activity takes him out the bounds of a deity and places him within the confines of his creations human understanding and intellect.
Your five senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste allow you to function in the physical world around you. If one is asked, did you feel that, it can be answered with a yes or no. If one asks, how are you feeling today, the answer to the question is possible through self evaluation of one's feelings. Those things we can see outside and feelings of the body are evaluated by the senses and the affected party's learned belief system, be it correct or incorrect. The normal soul can only evaluate occurrences and situations which it believes exist. In the non-born-again state it will never see into, or cross over into, the spirit world. In fact, when confronted by the spirit world, either real or on a movie screen it panics and becomes fearful. If it didn't, horror movies would not exist.
The spirit of mankind resides in the sub-conscience mind. This is the born-again part of the Christian. While the soul may sin, the spirit cannot sin. This is the reason evil forces tempt only the soul to sin. When the soul of a born again
