Channeling is one of two main techniques developed by mediumship in the latter half of the 20th century. One type involves psychics who can speak to spirits and then pass on to their clients what they hear. One of the best noted channels of this type is clairvoyant Danielle Egnew, known for her communication with angelic beings.

The other incarnation of non-physical mediumship is a form of channeling in which the channeler goes into a trance, or "leaves their body" and then becomes "possessed" by a specific spirit, who then talks using them as a vessel. In the trance, the psychic enters a cataleptic state marked by extreme rigidity.

The control spirit then takes over, the voice may change entirely and the spirit answers the questions of those in its presence or giving spiritual knowledge. The most successful and widely known channeler of this variety is JZ Knight, who claims to channel the spirit of Ramtha.

Others claim to channel spirits from "future dimensional", ascended masters or in the case of the trance psychics of the Brahma Kumaris, God himself. Channeling is increasingly parodied in the "Doonesbury" cartoon where a ditzy female character is occasionally taken over by "Hunk-Ra," an assertive 21,000-year-old warrior based on Ramtha.

Other recognized channels are Jane Roberts for Seth. A good example of what happens when channeling is displayed in the Ace Attorney series. Maya, Pearl, and Mia Fey are spirit mediums who have the gift to allow spirits to take over their bodies temporarily and at the same time alter their appearance to that of the person they are channeling.

Mia Fey never uses her talents in the games, but is usually called upon by Maya and Pearl. It is also believed that through deep paranormal channeling prophecies can be made. To conclude, channeling is a real experience according to some people. However, just like anything else, it can be faked because it is not completely proven or tested.

I do channeling myself and it is a real experience. I have channeled my spirit guides and various other spiritual beings from the astral world. I have even channeled a few family members. Using this method of mediumship you can ask questions on any topic regarding your life and receive answers.

You may even be able to ask questions concerning world events. This would depend on the type of spirit you try to channel because not every spirit can answer every question.
