a contract vowing to let cameras follow him in his day to day life. All is well for some time. Ed becomes popular and people recognize him everywhere. The shows ratings become fantastic. Ed enjoys the popularity for some time. All seems to be going along smoothly until things in his life become complicated.
When Ed decides he dislikes being on cable television twenty-four hours a day he goes to the television company and request to take the show off the air. No one likes this idea. EdTV is so popular and the money is steady, the corporation reminds Ed of his contract. This reality begins to wear on Ed. He realized that having his every move tapped leads him to feel claustrophobic. Ed takes on the cable station and wins in the end.
This is where I believe collusion comes into play. Collusion is; "A secret agreement between two or more parties for a fraudulent, illegal, or deceitful purpose" (Daughton, Hart). This term is used when performing in life, it is not always necessarily deceitful. I recognize that some surveillance cameras are legally placed but, the infringement they play in my opinion is deceitful. Their placement is purposefully discrete therefore, people are uninformed of there whereabouts. In my eyes this is devious. When asking others about their awareness of these cameras; I realized that most individuals are unaware that they are being watched.
These surveillance cameras are placed where they are unseen to the naked eye. It is my opinion that if more people knew about these cameras there would be an uproar. I do not like feeling that I am being watched. Knowing that someone is able to go online and track me as I am driving down the highway is disturbing to me. I feel that this is unlawful and my rights are being violated. It is my hope that these cameras will be taken off the streets and out of our businesses.
This brings me to compare these movies and surveillance cameras with society. In our everyday lives we are constantly being watched. Whether it be at the airport, in a hotel, visiting the bank, or pumping gas at a gas station; we are on video. No one is entitled to their privacy in the world today. While at work; our employers and other employees can watch us at any time. Video cameras are et up in discrete areas. These cameras are supposedly placed for our protection, but when does it stop? "What is that truth? In part, it is about how the media and corporations have begun to surround us with a universe of illusions. From their high-tech
