Modern Love
Once you wrote me a lurid love letter
and our distance didn't matter.
Images of seduction lived inside my head
wildly wicked words, warmed my lonely bed.
Once the phone became my lover's midnight touch
and the time apart didn't mean too much.
Whispered words graphically, explicitly told
of all the things you'd do to save me from the cold.
Now you're here with me, your warm body in my bed,
journey's end, it took me where your imagination led.
Silently, without thinking I slip away from you,
shame the things you wrote and said are better than you do!
