Why is nutrition important?

Nutrition is described as the science of foods, and most commonly defined as any intake of chemical substances, which includes natural chemical contained in food that reacts with our bady in both a positive and negative way.

The study of nutrition concentrates on understanding how each food groups and their chemicals react in our bodies after being consumed, and the relationship between this reaction and us growing, gaining weight, losing weight and the development of our bones and the immune system works.

And as science advances and we are developing better understanding of the need for a good and balanced nutrition, we are able to eat and live healthier by following nutritional guidelines. These guidelines teach us the different food groups and their nutritional values, as well as how to balance our diet to suit our body's needs. Not every body has the same nutritional requirements.

Nutrition is important because as we grow and live our lives, we need certain chemicals in our bodies to create the energy and the immunity we need to maintain both physically and mentally healthy. These chemicals are in the form of vitamins and other substances that reside in the food we eat. Vitamin A,B,C and E as well as Fiber are essential part of our diet that if we go without, we can become weak, vulnerable to sickness and mentally unstable. An unhealthy body will develop an unhealthy mind, and those who are lacking in a good and balanced nutrition can stress and become easily agitated when provoked.

A malnutritioned body will create many problems for its owners, which can develop complications and occasionally can be fatal. This is not to say eating too healthy can't also be a problem. A person who eats only red meat, although rich in iron, which is essential for the maintenance of our blood, can lack in fiber to keep the digestive system clean. A strict vegetarian can be well fed with fiber, will lack the iron that are contained in meats as well as other essential vitamins and minerals to keep their bones and muscle developments strong. In both these cases they are lacking a balanced diet to obtain the required nutrition a human body needs to function.

Nutrition is especially important for growing children. During our growth years there are certain nutrition requirements to help us grow strong bones, healthy hair, good eyes and the development of our brain. Often we see advertisements for specific food products that contain specific nutritional value such as calcium, OMega 3 and Fiber to target each of these growing areas. Without these fundamental nutrition, children can be deprived of a good eye sight or good hand and eye coordination, and will likely to develop health issues when they grow to be adults.

In conclusion, nutrition is important for everyone of all genders and ages, and it is essential that we keep a well balanced diet to receive the nutrition we need, to maintain a healthy body and mind.
